Happy Birthday to Me!

It isn't my birthday. Olivia has just had a birthday (pictures and post to follow in the relatively near future) and is now obsessed with all things birthday. She makes birthday references at least 2-3 times each day. Today's first birthday reference is linked to her first day of preschool (yesterday) (and yes, pictures and post also to follow--in the same time frame as above). Yesterday they decorated cupcakes (two each) at school. Olivia ate one of hers and said she wanted to bring the other one home for Mama.

Today when I picked Olivia up from school, she said, "Oh, I didn't make you a cupcake!" in a very sad voice. So we came home and made cupcakes. She said we needed candles like a birthday cake. And I had to sing "Happy Birthday" to her. In the middle of my cleaning up, she left the kitchen and then returned a few minutes later.

"Mom, Mom! I have a surprise for you. Come see!" She was holding her shorts and her undies in her hands, so I had a pretty good idea what the surprise was. I followed her into the bathroom where she showed me with a flourish of one hand that she had pooped in the potty. "Do you like it?"

Well of course I like poop in the potty as opposed to poop in the pants, but as a birthday gift? Not so much. Just in case any of you need ideas for my birthday, poop in the potty is not high on my list.

I purposely did not include a picture with this post. You'll just have to use your imagination.
