Olivia's Fourth Birthday

We scaled back the birthday party this year.  It was just cousins and aunts and uncles, but with eight kids, six adults, one dog, and three lambs, it was still a full house.  We had  a dance party.  Brigham put some groovy music on the iPod and bought some prizes at the dollar store.  Each song had a dance theme and a corresponding prize.  The first prize (a rubber snake) went to the "slipperiest" dancer.  The glasses and funny noses were to help identify the "nerdiest" dancer, who received a box of Nerds candy.

I think the prize should have gone to Uncles Brent (above) and Brian (below).

The gloves on their left hands was to help them channel Michael Jackson.  The prize went to the "creepiest" dancer.

I know it looks like there were only three kids dancing, but most of them did participate for at least one song.  These three were the die hards.

The cake.  Olivia chose the cake pan for it.  And she helped decorate the cupcakes.  She loves being in charge of the sprinkles.

The haul.  Do you think she's just a little bit spoiled?

The party was on the Saturday before her birthday.  On her birthday, I took her to an aquarium.  She wasn't really a fan.  It was dark.  And it was noisy--lots of announcements being made.  So we didn't stay long.  It took us longer to drive there than the time we spent there.  Oh, well.  It was her birthday.

Now, when anyone asks Olivia, "How are you?"  She tells them, "I'm four."  For the last few weeks before her birthday she responded with, "I'm still three."  We're working on more appropriate responses.

School starts in two weeks, and our big four-year-old can't wait!
