A Christmas Miracle

About three years ago I wrote a post about Lamb E. Lulu.  It has bearing on this post.  You can read the previous post here.

Since I stole text from Charles Dickens in the last Lamb E. post, I thought it only fitting that I do so again.  So, here it goes.

"Lamb E. Lulu was dead to begin with."  Well, she wasn't actually dead, but she sure looked like roadkill.

Last Tuesday while Olivia was at preschool, Lamb E. Lulu visited the Davis-Fordham med spa to get a little work done.  Actually, a lot of work.  As you can see below, Lamb E. New Lu isn't quite ready for kind of work Lamb E. Lulu went in for.  It's obvious she's had a bit of love, but nothing like Lamb E. Lulu.

My mom did some serious reconstructive surgery on Lamb E. Lulu's face.  It was really more of a face transplant than a face lift.  She also gave Lamb E. Lulu some reverse liposuction.  I crafted new feet, which Mom sewed on over the existing ones.  While we think we did a pretty good job, we're not going into the business.  I couldn't have done it without Mom's help, especially since she did most of the work.  I was terrified to do it by myself!

Olivia knew that Lamb E. Lulu was getting a makeover, but I don't think she really had any idea what to expect.  When she first saw Lamb E., she said over and over again in a forlorn voice, "Lamb E.'s different.  Lamb E.'s different."  In the end, she didn't reject the donor parts and still has to sleep with Lamb E. every night and share many experiences with her throughout the day.  The first night, she said, "Lamb E. and Lamb E. can be twins now!"

Olivia is the one with the shiner this time!

So while she has accepted that Lamb E. Lulu is still Lamb E. Lulu, even though some parts of her look different, she still has some concerns.  "She doesn't smell the same.  This part of her face smells different."  And she said to me, at 2:00 this morning, "Mom, I wonder why Lamb E. can't turn her head.  She used to be able to turn her head."
