All About Pretend Brother

Pretend Brother has been a fixture at our house for some time now.  He started coming with some other invisible friends.  (Actually, Olivia calls them "ghostes.")  Whenever we go anywhere in the car, Olivia feels it necessary to buckle Pretend Brother and whoever he's brought with him into a seat belt.  It drives me bat-wacky!  It seems like I'm always in a hurry when we're going somewhere and it's maddening to have to wait while Olivia buckles the other two seat belts before her own.  Yes, I want Pretend Brother to be safe, but couldn't we just leave the belts buckled and have him slide under?  No, of course not, because every time we get out of the car, Olivia unbuckles Pretend Brother and helps him out of the car.  I'm in big trouble if I ever shut the door before he's all the way out!

Olivia talks to Pretend Brother often.  She likes to tell and teach him things.  It's like having an instant (and captive) audience, which is important to her.  Pretend Brother is younger than Olivia (much more convenient for bossing), but his age is quite flexible while staying under the age of four.  I don't know what he looks like, but I do know that he is "five units tall," for all the good that does me!

When Pretend Brother is naughty, Olivia takes him by his little, pretend hand and takes him to his little, pretend room.  The lecture she gives him is real enough, though!  She also blames a myraid of naughtinesses on him and complains about things he has done or is doing to her.  Sometimes Pretend Brother wakes her up in the middle of the night.  He hits and kicks her and eats her fruit snacks.  He also leaves toys out and makes enormous messes building forts and attending tea parties with his friends.

I'm hoping it won't be long before Pretend Brother is joined by Real Brother (or Real Sister).  Olivia will be a great big sister, as evidenced by her interactions with Pretend Brother.  Here's the link to our adoption profile: http://www.parentprofiles.com/profiles/db27502.html  You're welcome to share or forward it on to friends and family.

Olivia on Easter morning.  Can you see Pretend Brother standing next to her, making her do that weird thing with her eyes?

How cute! It reminds me of my daughter when she was little. She had a pretend family and we had to buckle them all in. They were mama, dada, and baby. She also had a naughty friend named Lama. He was very mischievious. :)

Too bad pretend brother can't have a pretend seatbelt when you are late.
Hope you get your 2nd miracle soon (although pretend brother might have to stick around after real brother/sister arrives b/c it sounds like pretend brother makes a better scapgoat than a baby would!)
