Adoption is Super Duper

See this cute girl?

She is so ready to become a big sister.  And not in just any old way, but through adoption.  She knows her own adoption story and has referenced it many times in interesting ways in the last few weeks.

Last week she told me that "LambE's birth mom taught her how to needle (sew)."  She loves her story so much that she has invented one for LambE.  And Pretend Brother, who has been an installation around here for quite some time, has a very unique, exciting adoption story, too.  I love that to her, adoption is the norm.  That's just how it's done, and everyone has a great story to share.

This morning she told me that she had twenty dogs that she needed to take to their school.  That's not unusual.  What was unusual, however, is that she then told me that all the dogs call her "Alyssa" because they grew in her tummy!  Apparently, she's their birth mom.  I'm guessing her train of thought went something like this: "My birth mom's name is Alyssa, so if I'm these dogs' birth mom, my name must be Alyssa."  (Alyssa, this kid loves you!)

She hears us talk about our hope to adopt again with anyone who will listen, and she talks about it, too.  She is very anxious.  We regularly pray for our birth mom and baby, whoever and wherever they are.  Lately, when it's Olivia's turn to pray, she puts time constraints on the issue.  It started with, "And I hope we get our baby soon."  Then it changed to, "super, duper soon."  I think there were seven dupers last night!  Brigham and I realize that "soon" is a relative term, but we are hoping Olivia's vision of super, duper soon plays out!  We're ready.

P.S. Anyone else think of Taco's version of "Puttin' On the Ritz" when they see (or sing) the words "super duper?"  I bet some of you do, now.

I totally get the "Puttin; on the Ritz" reference!

Hoping that "Pretend Brother" becomes Real Brother (or real sister) for your family- soon.
